We happened upon the 35th Street Bistro several years ago during our first visit to the Fremont Street Fair in a desperate attempt to escape the increasing afternoon heat and throngs of looky-lous cheering-on the naked bikers in the Solstice Parade. (Ah yes, even when you’ve heard they’re coming, you’re never truly prepared.) Relief came immediately in the form of a shaded bistro, a quiet table, a slight breeze and a glass of pinot noir. Although the dining room was mostly empty, I could feel an inevitable post-parade sneak attack; but after a few sips of wine and deep breaths, my aggravation transformed into relaxation. Now, every time I walk by, I get the same feeling of deliverance.

Michelle & Mason Citarello have the perfect formula to lure you in from the street: large front windows revealing a charming dining room -- softly-bathed yellow walls, solid, dark-wood furnishings, potted trees and crisp white linens -- and delighted patrons sitting at a handful of coveted sidewalk tables enjoying simple French fare. Don’t struggle; there’s no use trying to resist its temptation.
The food is unpretentious, seasonal, artistically presented and consistently well-executed. I’ve been on numerous occasions and left happy every time.
35th Street is a great place to meet business clients, take a date, feed your Mom, or elude hoards of pedaling streakers.
(Incidentally, The Kid, an impressionable age at the time, decided to “make a statement” and sign up for the naked biking portion of the following year’s parade. Don’t remember my exact words, but I’m pretty sure my dead body was brought up.)

Awesome Recipe, I will definitely be trying this. I have found that I find so many awesome recipes to try that I need to buy another kitchen or hire a cook :P

1) This post is starting to make me drool. It might be your fantastic photography skills or your eloquent writing but either way, I am convinced that 35th Street Bistro is the place to go for a little taste of Europe. From the looks of your photos, the portions look generous and appear as fresh as can be. I’m sure if I passed by this restaurant in Fremont, I would not be able to resist the cozy atmosphere and inviting interior.
