Today was the first snow day; merely getting out of the driveway was a white-knuckle exercise in frustration. A day like this calls for curling up with a glass of Luxe & a good book -- Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged is the current hedonistic read (over 1,000 pages & nary a recipe -- I know, what's gotten into me?).
A sparkler’s refreshing, cleansing nature makes it fantastic with so many things -- rich things, fried things, salty things -- for blanc de blanc styles, throw in earthy things. Domaine Ste. Michelle’s Luxe Sparkling pairs well with all those things. Further still, Luxe's fortunate complexities play well with equally complex foods -- braises, stews, pastas, casseroles.
Not in the mood for real food, popcorn is inevitably my drug of choice. Mmmmmm, popcorn & Luxe are yummy -- reciprocal flavors, contrasting textures... a simple pleasure. But, just so you know, it was also nice with yesterday’s Chardonnay-braised chicken legs.
