But, I do like the little section in my book case that holds herbal remedy reference books, back issues of Cooking Light (filled with post-its marking recipes I promise to try), print-outs of global food articles, and those little free monthly publications I snatch from my local health food store each time I pick up vitamins. Nothing is from the American Medical Assoc., and doesn’t make my eyes glaze over first paragraph in, but I do have a few favorite books & magazines with a healthy glow…. And here they are:
Cooking Light Magazine: Mary Kay Culpepper & her staff do a terrific job in taking the fat & calories out of food, but not the flavor or fun.
You, The Owner’s Manual by Dr. Michael Roizen & Dr. Mehmet Oz: Excellent reference book on general, overall health and getting older. Although the writing sometimes feels a little childish, at least it isn’t condescending, and you don’t need a medical dictionary to get through it.
Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Phyllis A. Balch: A fantastic, thorough remedy reference book for information on treating specific ailments using drug-free products, vitamins, minerals, herbs and food supplements.
Remedies for Life Magazine: I pick up this free monthly publication at my local Pilgrim’s Natureway health food shop – it’s a dandy.
Essential Health Magazine: Another free monthly publication – check out your local health food shop.
